When you buy a fractional share, Questrade purchases the necessary portion of a company’s share on your behalf. Your account will reflect your ownership percentage of the whole share—so if you buy 50% of a share, your position would show as 0.5 shares. Dividends are paid proportionally to your ownership, and you can buy or sell your fractional shares just like whole shares.
