To be eligible, your accounts must show you’ve met at least two of the following in the last 12 months:

• 250+ executed trades in any self directed investing account (excluding GICs & precious metals)
• $250,000+ average total balance in Questrade accounts (excluding Forex & CFD accounts)
• 2,500+ options contract trades
• $25,000+ average margin balance

Our system assesses eligibility monthly. If you’re eligible, our Reserve Team will let you know through email, and you’ll see your Questrade Reserve badge when you log in to your Questrade account. Once you’ve qualified, you can access all the exclusive benefits, like free Questrade Plus ¹. To maintain your benefits, you’ll need to continue to meet at least two of the above over a rolling 12-month period. You don't have to wait 12 months to be eligible--our system is already looking at your trading activity since you opened your account. 

Margin debit balance is the amount of money you are borrowing using margin for leveraged investing. The criteria is the average balance borrowed over the course of the last 12 months being $25,000 or greater in combined CAD.

Yes. Our system reviews customer activity on a rolling 12-month basis and assesses eligibility monthly. If you’ve been with Questrade for less than 12 months, you can still be eligible if your activity since joining meets the required threshold when averaged by a full year.  Trade volume and options contracts are not calculated as averages, so as soon as you hit those thresholds, you would qualify for your benefits.

Free Questrade Plus ¹ ($11.95 / month + tax value): Access enhanced trading tools, like advanced charting and our P&L calculator, and save on high-value services (like unlimited free journal requests and free Passiv Elite). All you need to do is log in to your account and navigate to Questrade Plus in the top menu to sign up, and we’ll cover the charge. 

2% Bonus on RRSP contributions: Get an exclusive 2% bonus on new RRSP contributions. Just make sure you have a non-registered (cash or margin) account where it can be deposited. If you don’t have one, open one in minutes. See Terms & Conditions for more details.

2x the Refer a Friend bonus: That’s $100 for you and $50 for them when they open an account. The bonus will be paid out the following month in your primary account/billing account after your friend completes the account funding. See Terms & Conditions for more details.

Please note—be sure to reference the phone number in your account profile and make sure it’s up-to-date. Your phone number is used to confirm your eligibility for Questrade Reserve benefits, so you can be directly routed to the Reserve Team.  

We calculate the bonus based on new RRSP contributions made during the calendar month. Only net-new deposits are eligible; while you’re free to transfer-in an RRSP from another financial institution, the transfer-in amount would not be eligible for the 2% bonus.

The bonus is paid out on a monthly basis, typically within the first few days of each month into a non-registered account (cash or margin). Some limits apply; please see our Terms & Conditions for more details.

The bonus will be deposited into a cash or margin account, so there is no risk of over-contributing to your RRSP.

There are RRSP contribution limits set by the CRA, so be sure to monitor your contributions closely. Over-contributing to your RRSP can lead to penalties from the CRA. Learn more about RRSPs.

Net new contributions eligible for the bonus are capped each calendar year at the CRA’s maximum RRSP dollar contribution limit, e.g. $32,490 for the 2025 tax year. 

If you initiate a request to transfer funds out of your Eligible RRSP Account(s) to an RRSP account at another financial institution, Questrade reserves the right to recover the sum total of all Bonuses paid to your Payout Account under this Program during the 12-month period immediately preceding the date Questrade processes the transfer-out request. Please see our Terms and Conditions for more details. 

With Questrade Reserve benefits, you’ll get 2x the referral bonus—that’s $100 for you and $50 for them when they open an account. Not sure how to Refer a Friend? Learn more. Your Refer a Friend bonus will be paid out to your primary account/billing account in the month after all eligibility requirements are met. 

Please note—to get the referral bonus, your friend must open the account using your referral code and fund the account with $250. You’ll also need to ensure you’re qualified for Reserve benefits at the time the account is funded to get the bonus. See Terms and Conditions.

Once you’ve earned Questrade Reserve benefits, you’ll get Questrade Plus for free (a $11.95 /month + tax value). Questrade Plus is here to help you trade more effectively with savings on essential services and access to advanced tools. To access Questrade Plus for free, log in to your account and navigate to Questrade Plus to sign up.

Eligibility for Questrade Reserve is assessed monthly based on a 12-month rolling period. If you’re no longer eligible, we’ll notify you that you’ve entered into a grace period. 

When you’ve entered the grace period, you’ll keep your benefits for the duration of the grace period. If you become eligible again before the end of the grace period, you’ll maintain your benefits. If at the end of the period you haven’t met the qualification criteria, you’ll lose eligibility and your benefits will end, but you’ll still receive the payout for benefits accrued while you were eligible. Eligibility is assessed monthly based on a 12-month rolling period, which means you could qualify again in the future. 

Questrade Reserve benefits are free. Built to acknowledge and celebrate our most engaged customers for a wide range of trading activities, your benefits can’t be purchased or given away.

As a Questrade Reserve benefits customer, your benefits are tied to your user ID and can be used by you if you’re an Authorized Trader on someone else’s account. Note that if someone else is an Authorized Trader on your account, your Authorized Trader will not have access to your benefits when trading on your account, unless they are a Reserve benefits customer themselves.

Your Questrade Reserve benefits are active for the entire month. To continue enjoying your benefits, ensure you consistently meet two of the eligibility criteria. At the end of each calendar month, we assess your eligibility based on the previous 12 month period, so maintaining your current activities is key. If you don’t meet the criteria in a given month, we’ll notify you that you’ve entered the grace period.

Watch for your welcome email at the start of the month, where we’ll notify you if you’re eligible for Questrade Reserve. If eligible, you’ll also see your new Questrade Reserve badge in your Questrade account.

Questrade Plus is not just another investing product, it’s a formula—one that sets you on a path to becoming a better trader by adding better guidance, tools, and savings on high-value services to your Questrade experience. If you’re eligible for Questrade Reserve, one of the many benefits is getting Questrade Plus for free ¹ (a $11.95 / month + tax value). However, having Questrade Plus does not provide you with Questrade Reserve benefits.

¹ Professional Subscribers are charged $124.95 CAD /month + the applicable sales tax for Questrade Plus.
